Health & Safety Protocols

Ballet Austin’s current set of COVID-19 protocols reflect recommendations from the CDC, federal, state, local health officials, and the guidance of Ballet Austin’s medical advisor. With the health and safety of our students and staff as our highest priority, Ballet Austin’s protocols are cautious and evolving. As new recommendations are announced, we will consider them carefully and will send updates to our protocols if warranted.

When we return to class in September, the following protocols will be in place:

  • Parents are asked to be on alert for any symptoms of COVID-19 and keep their students at home if showing any cold-like symptoms like coughing, sneezing, or a temperature of 100.4 or higher.
  • Ballet Austin staff, faculty, and accompanists are fully vaccinated.
  • If a student tests positive for COVID-19, unvaccinated students determined to have been in close contact will be required to quarantine for 7 days and receive a negative PCR test, administered after the 5th day, before returning to class.
    • Unvaccinated students may also choose to quarantine for 14 days and return to class without taking a COVID-19 test.
  • Fully vaccinated students will not be required to quarantine and may continue with class. The only exception to this will be if a fully vaccinated student tests positive, in which case that student will need to quarantine.

Pending Stage 4 COVID-19 Guidelines

Given developing information concerning Austin’s health and safety guidance related to COVID-19, Ballet Austin is temporarily postponing the opening of 2021/22 In-Studio registration for the Young Children’s Division (at our downtown and JCC locations) in order to process the new information to ensure the health and safety of our youngest students (ages 18 months to 5 years).

We look forward to opening In-Studio registration as soon as we consider this new guidance.

Academy Divisions & Class Schedule

Young Children’s Division

Students of our youngest division are gently introduced to the joy of dance through imaginative stories and games. Not only are they having fun but our curriculum is designed to enhance physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills.

Pre-Ballet Division

With just the right amount of creativity and structure, students are gently prepared for formal ballet instruction. By introducing students to the basic terminology, positions, postures and traditions of classical ballet, the curriculum enhances both cognitive and physical development.

Elementary Division

Formal ballet training begins at a rate that allows all students to learn exercises correctly and with full physicality. Repetition and slow deliberate work is emphasized as the students learn discipline and control of their bodies.

Intermediate & Advanced Division

Members of Ballet Austin’s uppermost Academy division possess the discipline and determination to commit to a serious ballet program, as well as the required technical ability and physical strength to master the challenging curriculum.
