In Theater Experiences


Enhance your experience at the ballet with a pre-show lecture and Q&A for all ages. One hour prior to each performance at The Long Center, Ballet Austin's Community Education staff gives a short, informal, interactive presentation on the historical, creative, and technical elements of the production. See the last-minute preparations unfold in the background as you relax and gain a unique understanding of the performance you are about to see.

Footlights for Families

Before select matinee performances at The Long Center, bring your entire family to Footlights for Families! This fun-packed session blends information from our regular pre-show talk with activities and stories you won’t hear anywhere else. All ages are welcome to attend, but the focus during these sessions is for families with children ages 3–12.

Join Stephen Mills for an informal post-performance conversation and Q&A.

Ballet Austin's Artistic Director, Stephen Mills, invites audience members to a short discussion about the work just seen. Stephen Mills and guests, such as company dancers, composers, and set and costume designers, answer questions about the artistic process involved in creating a ballet.

Encore takes place inside the theater at the orchestra level immediately following selected performances at The Long Center and the AustinVentures StudioTheater.

Performances Offered: All performances of Director's Choice and The Graham Reynolds Project.

Length of Program: Approximately 15 minutes

Ballet-o-mania! – The Interactive Discovery Lounge

Immerse yourself in the world of Ballet Austin before select performance at The Long Center by by checking out Ballet-o-mania!

Guests are encouraged to explore our live demonstrations, touch costume fabric samples, hear music samples, learn more about the dance works and their history immersive exhibits at their own leisure.

Parking at the Long Center

The Long Center/Palmer Events Center Garage 701 W Riverside Dr, Austin, TX 78704 North Entrance. The cost is $8.00 ($10 for special events), collected upon entry into the garage.
Palmer Events Center Garage 900 Barton Springs Rd Austin, TX 78704 South Entrance on Barton Springs Road. The cost is $8.00 ($10 for special events), collected upon entry into the garage.
The One Texas Center Parking Garage 505 Barton Springs Rd Austin, TX 78704 Overflow Parking for The Long Center (There are two entrances: a west entrance on S. 1st St. & a north entrance on Barton Springs Rd.)

The Long Center  |  701 W Riverside Dr, Austin, TX 78704

The primary parking structure for patrons of The Long Center is the City of Austin's Palmer Events Center Garage. It is located behind and to the east of The Long Center. This structure has two entrances—the South Entrance on Barton Springs Road and North Entrance on Riverside Drive.

Paid valet parking is available for $18.00 per car. For valet parking drop-off by driving eastbound on Riverside Drive and entering the first drive on your right past the Long Center (please stay in the right hand lane of the Keller Williams Circular Drive).

 Overflow Parking for The Long Center is located at The One Texas Center listed below.

ADA Accessibility

The Palmer Events Center garage has 24 accessible/handicapped parking spaces located closest to the elevators on each level. Patrons may also enter the valet line through the first entrance to The Long Center off of Riverside Drive and pull up to the curb to drop off at the main entrance. Elevator access is available through the entry level lobby door next to the Box Office. Staff will be available to direct you should you need assistance.
