6-week workshops

Ballet workshops teach the fundamentals of ballet to adults. It's never too late to learn something new, re-visit a childhood past-time, or fulfill a dream! Ballet workshops are enrollment-based* and are offered during a set period of time.

If you have had previous ballet training you may be interested in our Drop-in Ballet classes for adults of all levels offered 7 days a week. Start any time and come when you can.

Ballet Workshops for Adults

The Nutcracker Holiday Ballet Variations Workshop (Merliton French Scene)

If you love to dance, love the holiday favorite The Nutcracker, or just want to learn some ballet choreography, you won't want to miss this Nutcracker-themed workshop!

For dancers at the Intermediate level of ballet or contemporary. this 2-week workshop will teach you the choreography from the Merliton's (French scene) choreography in Act 2 of The Nutcracker.

Make plans to attend this workshop and get in the holiday spirit.

Holiday Ballet Variations Workshop - La Bayadere, Gamzatti Variation

What better way to spend the winter holiday break!
 
Join Selena for this 2-hour workshop and learn a variation from a classical ballet.
 
The workshop will begin with a short ballet warm-up class followed by the classical ballet variation La Bayadere, Gamzatti Variation

Holiday Ballet Variations Workshop - Coppelia, Swanhilde Act III Variation

What better way to spend the winter holiday break!

Join Selena for this 2-hour workshop and learn a variation from a classical ballet.

PIECES OF PASSION ' Sombrerisimo' Ballet Variations Workshop

Experience dancing* the choreography of Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Sombrerisimo, one of the 4 pieces that will be performed on stage by Ballet Austin February 15-17 at the Long Center as a part of PIECES OF PASSION.

Spend 1.5 hours with company dancer Christopher Swaim as he teaches you a section of the choreography that he will be performing on stage in Sombrerisimo.

Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s distinctive style of dancemaking is as sensual as her Latin roots, and when it comes to mixing performance with passion, she always delivers! This piece is choreographed for and danced by men in the performance but is open toanyone to learn at the workshop. Fun and energetic! Sombrerisimo: Music by Banda Ionica

Join Chris on Wednesday evening, January 9 and learn some of this amazing choreography and then go see it performed on stage the weekend of February 15-17.

Absolute Beginning Ballet Workshop for Adults

It's never too late for adults to learn ballet. This workshop is one of the most popular we offer. And yes, it is absolute beginning. 

Designed for those who have never had a ballet class, this workshop teaches ballet from the very beginning. At the end of session you will have learned some of the fundamental positions, vocabulary, and basic principles of ballet. 

Adult ballet classes also offer a fun way to tone and tighten your body and work on posture while learning ballet technique. 

Dress Code:
Tights and a leotard. A T-shirt and/or shorts over your leotard are appropriate if you feel more comfortable–wear something that allows you to move freely. Ballet technique shoes required; canvas is recommended but leather is fine.

Beginning Ballet 2 Workshop for Adults

Beginning Ballet 2 is a six-week workshop for adults who wish to continue the work of the Absolute Beginning Ballet Workshop, or have had an introduction to basic ballet. 

This workshop will further prepare the adult beginner for Beginning Ballet drop-in classes, or for the Beginning Ballet 3 Workshop. The Beginning Ballet 2 workshop will add more complex combinations and center work, and will develop confidence, coordination, strength, flexibility and body awareness. 

Adult ballet classes offer a fun way to tone and tighten your body while learning ballet technique.

Beginning Ballet 3 Workshop for Adults

Beginning Ballet 3 is a six-week workshop for adults who wish to continue the work of the Beginning 2 Ballet Workshop, have had an introduction to basic ballet, or want a refresher before trying a drop-in beginning level class.

This workshop will further prepare the adult beginner for Beginning Ballet drop-in classes and will add more complex combinations and center work. Develop confidence, coordination, strength, flexibility and body awareness. And enjoy a great workout!

Adult ballet classes offer a fun way to tone and tighten your body while learning ballet technique.

Continuing Ballet POINTE - Workshop for Adults

This is a great workshop for adults at a beginning level of ballet pointe who would like to continue and progress in their pointe work. 

Must be 16 or older with previous ballet technique experience and some pointe work.

Classes will take the students through fundamental pointe work and exercises. Bring your pointe shoes with ribbons already sewn to the first class.

Participants are required to have ballet technique experience to take this workshop, and for the safety of the students, it is highly recommended that they take one to two ballet technique classes a week leading up to and during enrollment in the pointe workshop.

Ballet Strengthening & PRE-POINTE Workshop for Adults

This class is for adults (and teens ages 14 and older) who have taken ballet classes and desire to learn ballet pointe work in the future. 
 
Before getting to that place, this workshop is recommended in order to strengthen feet, learn basic principles, and learn more about getting ready for a pointe class in the future. Or just keep those ankles and feet strong for ballet technique!
 
The decision of whether one is ready to go on pointe is determined by assessing strength and physical development. This workshop will provide the answer and the preparation! 
 
Enjoy a ballet class where the focus is on preparing you to wear pointe shoes! Also a great strengthening class for ankles and feet!

Pointe shoes NOT worn in this workshop.

Absolute Beginning Ballet POINTE Workshop for Adults

This workshop is designed for adults to put on pointe shoes for the first time, starting at the absolute beginning to learn what is required to go en pointe.

During the workshop the instructor introduces basic beginning pointe work and will take the students through fundamental pointe work and exercises during the 6 weeks.

For the safety of the students, we require previous and current ballet class attendance to ensure strong ankles and feet.

Beginning Level Ballet POINTE Workshop for Adults

Beginning Pointe Ballet Workshop for Adults - (must be 17 or older with previous ballet experience at the intermediate level)*

*participants must have this level of ballet experience to enroll. Please call 512-501-8704 if you have questions about the pre-requisite.

Whether it is to fulfill a lifelong dream, or to re-visit the days of ballet class, many adults love the thought of taking a ballet class en pointe.
 
During the workshop the instructor teaches basic beginning pointe work to the intermediate level adult dancer.
 
Classes will take the students through fundamental pointe work and exercises.
 
For the safety of the students, it is highly recommended that they take one to two ballet technique classes a week leading up to and during enrollment in this pointe workshop.

  • Various Capital Metro bus routes stop conveniently around Ballet Austin. The nearest stop is located at 2nd & San Antonio St.

Handicapped Spaces

  • These spaces require a proper permit. Violators will be ticketed at the owners expense.
