Pre-Teens and Teens

Teens love music and teens love to dance. Summer is a great time to have fun learning something new. 

From Hip Hop, Ballet, and Lyrical Dance Workshops to A Broadway Experience Camp, Ballet Austin is the place for teens this summer. All dance levels, including no experience, welcome!

Dance Camps and Workshops (Ages 11–16)

Group Pilates Reformer Drop-in Class

A drop-in Pilates reformer class for ages 11-16 allows for flexibility during the summer. Come once or come each week.

This class is designed to specifically target posture, alignment, core strength, coordination, balance and flexibility.

Pilates will build balanced muscle development, core strength and flexibility.

Pilates helps pre-teens and teens gain awareness of their body, improve their movement function and strengthen and tone muscles.

Capacity of 8 per class. Sign-up ahead of time to reserve a spot.

The Broadway Experience—Musical Theater

Are you drawn to the BIG stage? The Broadway Experience is a weeklong Musical Theatre Summer Camp for ages 11–16. This year's theme is 'Back to School' featuring favorite songs from: 

  • Grease 2
  • Legally Blonde
  • Matilda
  • School of Rock
  • High School Musical

The camp will include improvisation & acting, singing, dancing, and theatrical games all in a fun environment.

The Friday Showcase:
Students will put together an informal performance for friends and family showcasing all they have learned on Friday at 3:45pm in Ballet Austin's AustinVentures StudioTheater. The performance is free to the public. All friends and family are welcome.

Dance Team Fall Prep Workshop

An intense 4-hour workshop for middle school and high school dancers that will focus on: 

  • Ballet Technique: the foundation of all dance. In one hour, review and hone your ballet technique.
  • Stretch & Strengthen: the focus will be on flexibility for kicks, leaps and splits, and strengthening arms and legs. Learn a workout you can do at home to keep you in shape for the year.
  • Turns & Leaps: refine saut de chats, switch leaps, switch straddles, pirouettes, fouettes, and more. Be ready!
  • Jazz Combo: The ultimate goal is to be your best when you perform or compete. Learn choreography to stimulate the brain for more to come this fall!

Who should come?
Middle school and high school drill, pom, and cheer members; those who aspire to make the team next year; instructors/teachers; or anyone who wants to dance!

Beginning Ballet

This 4-week Beginning Ballet workshop is for ages 11–16. If you've had little or no ballet training then this ballet class is for you. Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles and this workshop is a great place to start.

This 4-week lyrical dance workshop is for ages 11–16. Learn blends of ballet and jazz using familiar contemporary music as inspiration for movement and expression.

Intro to Hip Hop

This 4-week workshop introduces the popular urban hip hop style of dance to pre-teens and teens. Learn basic moves featured in today's popular music videos, including footwork,  freezes, and more.

Open to teens ages 11–15 with no or little hip hop experience.

Parking Guidance: Ongoing building and road construction projects around Ballet Austin's studios may cause temporary changes in traffic patterns, along with changes in access to Ballet Austin's east and west parking areas over the next few weeks. Please note directional traffic signs for the best way to access our on-site parking spaces and drop off or pick up Ballet Austin Academy students as well as Pilates Center and Butler Center for Dance & Fitness clients during the completion of these projects. 

Free Parking Spots

  • There are 23 FREE parking spaces surrounding our building which are accessed on a first-come first-served basis and turn over frequently throughout the day. We ask that you limit your use of these spaces to the time(s) you are in our building in order to ensure that as many people as possible have access to these spaces.
    • San Antonio Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets is currently closed to southbound traffic. Guests, students and clients visiting the Butler Education Dance Center can access the free parking spaces around our building by taking San Antonio Street northbound, left on 4th Street to take Nueces Street south past 3rd Street and entering the alleyway for parking off of Nueces Street. 
  • Austin City Hall parking garage offers two hours FREE parking weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 5pm. Ballet Austin customers have access to two hours of free parking with validation. Bring your Austin City Hall garage ticket with you for validation at the front desk of the Butler Dance Education Center.

Discounted Parking

  • We've partnered with Hospitality Parking, which operates the Silicon Labs Parking Garage located at 400 W. Cesar Chavez, to provide Ballet Austin students and clients with parking spots for only $3 per visit with a pre-paid pass. Three-dollar parking passes for the Silicon Labs Garage are available for sale in our main lobby during normal business hours. Silicon Labs Parking Garage access is Monday through Friday after 4:30pm. Three-dollar parking passes do not expire.

Meters also reside around the building (allow for three hours of parking at the rate of $1 per hour via credit/debit cards or coins). Click on the additional parking options available below. Note: Access to metered parking may be affected by ongoing construction projects near the Butler Dance Education Center.

Bikes and Buses

  • Bike racks are located directly outside the building at the corners of 3rd & San Antonio Streets and 3rd & Nueces Streets.
  • Various Capital Metro bus routes stop conveniently around Ballet Austin. The nearest stop is located at 2nd & San Antonio St.

Handicapped Spaces

  • These spaces require a proper permit. Violators will be ticketed at the owners expense.
