Class Descriptions
Young Children's Division | 15 months - 5 Years
Dance with Me is open to children (accompanied by an adult) 15 months to 2 years old by September 1, 2024.
Parent, grandparent, or caregiver join the fun in a sensory-rich movement experience that keeps children engaged with stories, dance games, rhythm and songs while learning new skills. Dance with Me is the perfect foundation for Creative Dance classes.
Next Steps is open to children (accompanied by an adult) who are 2 years old by September 1, 2024.
Next Steps is the perfect transitional class for young children who are becoming more independent. Parents, grandparents, or caregivers are still able to join the fun in this sensory-rich movement experience that keeps children engaged with stories, dance games, rhythm and songs while learning new skills. As the year progresses, the aim is to slowly withdraw parent involvement so children are ready to take on Creative Movement with confidence and excitement.
Creative Dance 3 and 4 is open to children who have turned 3 or 4, respectively, by September 1, 2024.
The Creative Dance syllabus is designed to gently introduce our youngest students to a structured and safe classroom environment, while instilling the physical and emotional confidence to explore and create. Classes are narrative in nature as students are led through a series of movement stories and ballet-based activities that appeal to both girls and boys. Social skills are also developed through collaborative and cooperative games
Pre-Ballet Division | 6 - 7 Years
The curriculum of the Pre-Ballet Division is designed to be a bridge between the content and feel of the Young Children’s Division and the more traditional classical ballet format of the Elementary Division. We introduce more ballet components as we progress from 6 to 7-year-old classes and gently prepare students for Level 1 when they begin the progressive syllabus of the Elementary Division. This is the perfect opportunity to visit Ballet Austin and find out more about Ballet Austin Academy’s Pre-Ballet program.
Join us at Ballet Austin’s main location Downtown or at our Northwest location at The Dell Jewish Community Center for a 30-minute introductory class, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session to answer any questions about the curriculum, Ballet Austin Academy, and more.
