Getting Started with a Pilates Reformer Workout is Easy!

Whether you want to strengthen your core, rehab from an injury, create long, lean, and strong muscles, or improve flexibility or balance, Pilates offers plenty of benefits to your body, no matter your age, your size, or level of fitness. Pilates really does benefit everyone. Pilates is one of the most important things you can do for your fitness and for yourself!

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. Pilates exercises tend to target the core, but also work other areas of your body, and can be customized to what your body needs most. You can do Pilates with or without equipment, but our Pilates Center focuses on Pilates exercises on equipment that will help condition the whole body. Our Pilates Center uses a variety of state-of-the-art Balance Body equipment. You can find out more about our Pilates equipment here.

What can I expect in a first Pilates session?

  • Select a NEW CLIENT OFFER that fits you!
  • Our professionally certified instructors will design and individualize a workout program that is safe and challenging, focusing on your body’s needs.
  • The first step for new clients is to become oriented to the Pilates equipment. Learn how Pilates works, and determine the best workout for you going forward. That is best done through private sessions* or our Absolute beginning Pilates Reformer Workshop.

What about Pilates Mat classes?

In addition to the Pilates reformer (machines) classes, we also offer a variety of Pilates-based drop-in classes. Start any time and come when it fits your schedule. Never taken a class? Your first drop-in class is $5. (does not apply to the reformer Pilates)

*At least 2 private reformer sessions are recommended before booking group reformer classes unless you take advantage of one of the beginner group reformer offerings below. You may take advantage of any or all of the New Clients options below to get started. If you are new to Ballet Austin’s Pilates Center but are not new to the Pilates practice and would like to schedule group classes, please give us a call at 512.501.8704.

One Private Pilates 30-minute Reformer Session for New Clients

30-minute Intro Private Session for New Clients (valued at $45)*

This New Client* 30-minute private reformer session is designed to offer a quick introduction to the Pilates reformer with one of our certified Pilates instructors. It is a great session for those who are unsure about whether Pilates is the right workout for them, and is a great option for new clients who do have previous experience elsewhere and want to get started at Ballet Austin’s Pilates Center.

After completing this 30-minute introductory session we strongly recommend additional private sessions before jumping into a group reformer class.
