Young Children’s Division (Ages 18-months to 5-years)

We are excited to announce that enrollment is NOW open for the Young Children’s Division in-studio and outdoors! We can’t wait to welcome you back to the studio.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Our Young Children’s Division introduces children to the joy of dance through imaginative stories, music and games, while providing developmentally focused movement experiences.

Our instructors employ collective knowledge of early childhood development and philosophy of adult/child interaction when managing the content and delivery of this carefully crafted curriculum.

Classes are narrative in nature as students are led through a series of movement stories and ballet-based activities that appeal to both girls and boys. The curriculum is designed to enhance physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills through collaborative and cooperative games.

All students taking classes at both locations have the opportunity to view Ballet Austin’s professional dancers rehearse for upcoming performances in our downtown studios.

LOCATIONS

Our Young Children’s Division classes are offered at several Austin locations. The curriculum, faculty, and dress code requirements are identical at all locations.

CURRENT COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and return to Stage 5 in the Austin/Travis County area, Ballet Austin made the decision to “press pause” on Young Children’s Division (YCD) classes for several weeks, effective immediately. Should the situation improve as is expected, classes will resume the week of January 31, 2022. We will offer make-up classes and will email the dates as soon as they are confirmed.

As your children are our most precious and vulnerable age group of students, we feel it is our responsibility to mitigate any unnecessary exposure to the current variant. As an organization committed to lifelong health and well-being, we place the highest priority on the health and safety of you and your children, along with our staff, when making these decisions.

For updated health and safety protocols at the North-Central location, please follow this link here.

BUILDING ACCESS DOWNTOWN

  • Parents are asked to be on alert for any symptoms of COVID-19 and keep their student at home if showing any cold-like symptoms like coughing, sneezing or a temperature of 100.4 or higher.
  • One parent (or an accompanying adult) and the Young Children’s Division student will enter and exit the building through the main entrance. Upon arrival, the parent/accompanying adult will sign in at the Welcome desk and will then be directed to the student’s studio.
  • In order to limit the number of people in the building, access beyond the lobby will be limited to one adult per student. Siblings not enrolled in the class will not be permitted in the building at this time.
  • We ask that parents/accompanying adults and the student arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to class.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

  • Ballet Austin staff, faculty, and accompanists are fully vaccinated.
  • Ballet Austin staff, faculty, and accompanists are required to wear masks while onsite at Ballet Austin.
  • Students of all ages, regardless of vaccine status, will be required to wear a mask at all times while onsite at Ballet Austin.
    • Student masks must be provided by the student/student’s family.
  • If a student tests positive for COVID-19, unvaccinated students who are determined to have been in close contact will be required to quarantine for 7 days and receive a negative PCR test administered after the 5th day, before returning to class. Unvaccinated students may also choose to quarantine for 14 days and return to class without taking a COVID-19 test.
  • Fully vaccinated students will not be required to quarantine and may continue with the class. The only exception to this will be if a fully vaccinated student tests positive, in which case that student will need to quarantine.

Ballet Austin’s COVID-19 protocols reflect the recommendations of the CDC, federal, state, local health officials, and the advice of Ballet Austin’s medical advisor. With the health and safety of our students and staff as our highest priority, Ballet Austin’s protocols are cautious and evolving. As new recommendations are announced, we will consider them carefully and will share updates to our protocols, when warranted.
