Ballet Workshops
Take a moment to imagine a studio full of adult students—many beginners—learning something new, fulfilling long‑held dreams, escaping life’s stresses for a bit, and experiencing the artistry of ballet. Not to mention getting a great workout. Our Ballet Workshops are enrollment‑based* and are the perfect place to begin if you have little or no ballet experience. Beyond the joy of learning ballet where Ballet Austin’s professional dancers train, these workshops offer physical, mental, and creative benefits for every adult student.

Pointe Workshops
Pointe work brings a unique sense of accomplishment—adult dancers building strength, refining technique, and experiencing a new layer of ballet artistry. These workshops offer a focused training environment where you can challenge yourself, grow, and enjoy the satisfaction of developing true pointe skills. Our Pointe Workshops are enrollment‑based* and designed for dancers with prior ballet experience who are ready to safely progress onto pointe or deepen their existing pointe technique.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior dance experience? For our Non-Pointe Ballet workshops, no prior experience is needed — they’re designed with Beginners in mind. Pointe workshops require prior ballet experience and are for dancers ready to safely progress onto pointe or deepen existing technique.
What’s the difference between Non-Pointe and Pointe workshops? Non-Pointe workshops focus on ballet fundamentals, technique, and artistry without pointe shoes — ideal for beginners and returning dancers. Pointe workshops are for dancers with a ballet foundation who are ready to work in pointe shoes.
What’s the difference between a workshop and a drop-in class? Workshops are enrollment-based with set start and end dates — you commit to the full session. Drop-in classes are offered weekly and you can start anytime. View the drop-in schedule here.
How do I enroll? Browse the Non-Pointe and Pointe tabs above, find the workshop that’s right for you, and click Sign Up directly within the schedule. You can also click here to view all enrollments online.
Where are the workshops held? All Ballet workshops are held at the Butler Center for Dance & Fitness at 501 W. 3rd Street in downtown Austin. We also offer workshops at our Dell JCC location in Northwest Austin.
What do I wear to a Ballet Workshop? Tights and a leotard for women. A T-shirt and/or shorts over your leotard are just fine if you feel more comfortable. Men may wear shorts or warm-ups and t-shirt. Ballet technique shoes required; canvas is recommended but leather is fine. Any dancewear store will carry shoes and dancewear but we do recommend Movin’ Easy at 7756 Northcross Drive.
Where can I park? We have a variety of Downtown parking options. Feel free to explore them on our Parking page
