International Dance Day - Celebrate Diversity!

Experience Dance From Around The World on April 28, 2019! Classes only $10!

Ballet Austin joins countries across the world to celebrate diversity through dance on one day - International Dance Day!

Every year on April 29 the world celebrates dance. While we dance every day at Ballet Austin, we will celebrate International Dance Day in 2019 on Sunday, April 28.

DANCE UNITES! And we celebrate dance that is deeply rooted in culture, and promotes the opportunity for the people of Austin to celebrate diversity through traditional dances from around the world; dance that represents both the history and culture of many countries.

Come dance with us on April 28! All classes only $10 each*!

Dance is a common language that unites us all on some level, and as we explore cultural dances, we discover a commonality between many cultures. The value of dance as a crucial form of cultural expression has been evident for centuries. We believe that dance reinforces the idea that there is an essence of unity in all human beings, despite our cultural differences or diversities. That, we celebrate!

International Dance Day was founded in 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute and is celebrated worldwide every year on April 29. The goal of International Dance Day is to celebrate dance, to revel in the universality of this art form, to cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers and bring people together with a common language—dance. International Dance Day is celebrated across the world on April 29.

We hope you will join us as we celebrate International Dance Day. A variety of classes all afternoon; fun dances from countries and cultures around the world, and dances that have defined the culture of a country. Signing up for a class ahead of time is highly recommended. Payment of $10 is required per class. Many classes fill to capacity before April 28 so check the schedule and come dance!
