Pink Pilates Program

Endowed in memory of Nancy Lee Carpenter through the Community Programs Initiative of the Ballet Austin Foundation.

Sponsored by Texas Oncology.

This post-operative workout for breast cancer survivors offers a gentle and careful way to venture back toward physical and emotional health.

More than just exercise, our Pink Pilates Program offers a restorative workout, confidence-building, and encouragement in a warm and friendly environment at NO cost.

Breast cancer and cancer treatments take an enormous toll on a woman’s body. Between the recovery from surgeries, muscle atrophy, premature bone loss, and the effects of chemo and other treatments, women are left weak and physically challenged. Pilates is a gentle restorative exercise regimen perfectly suited for women as they recover and work to rebuild their bodies and range of motion. Read what 2 experts in breast cancer rehabilitation have to say about the benefits of Pilates.

In addition to the physical benefits of Pilates, meeting and healing together with other survivors allows you to give your mind, body, and spirit some positive TLC. We also know the incredible healing power of the arts. Art promotes well-being in general. Therefore, Ballet Austin invites women enrolled in Pink Pilates to join us as our guest for a Night of Community performance. We hope this can prove to be an enjoyable night out to experience the JOY of dance.

Committed to care as you journey towards recovery.

Pink Pilates – A Post-Operative Recovery Workshop

For women recently diagnosed with breast cancer, recovering from surgery, or in ongoing treatment, we invite you to make Pink Pilates a part of your journey to recovery.

CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS ABOUT THE PINK PILATES WORKSHOP & START DATES

PINK PILATES is offered at NO COST for women recently diagnosed with breast cancer, recovering from surgery, or in ongoing treatment.

The workshop includes a weekly class that offers rehabilitative help in the breast cancer recovery process; inspiring hope and restoring movement. The class offers a specialized program; one that focuses on gradually increasing range of motion through the shoulders and strengthening the back. Each session will help to gently stretch and strengthen the shoulder, chest, back, and abdominal muscles, allowing women to regain and/or maintain a full range of motion to those areas affected by breast cancer and surgery.

The weekly classes are held in Ballet Austin’s beautiful center for dance and community wellness located at 501 W. 3rd St in downtown Austin, a non-medical, happy, mainstream environment that allows for encouragement and rehabilitation.

We look forward to being a part of your full recovery*.
